Everyone told me.  They said she would grow up so fast, and before I knew it, she wouldn’t be a baby.  I can hardly believe our little peanut is one.  What a tiring, challenging, empowering, amazing and blessed year.

If I am being honest, this party overwhelmed me a bit.  How do you do justice to celebrating the best year of your life?  The first year of your pride and joy?  In the end, I decided that as long as the people who loved Ella were there (and they were), it would all turn out.  I loved how it all came together and Ella had so much fun with her little baby buddies!  We had a backyard BBQ with some sweet treats.  I displayed lots of photos of Ella and she wore the cutest little dress.

The teepee you see in the pictures was her birthday present from Brad and I and she loves it so much.  We have it set up in our home and she loves having her own special space.  When we had her first year photos taken, we brought it along and it looked so cute as a backdrop!  I bought some artificial flowers at the Dollar Store and added them in to add an extra hit of texture and colour.  Sometimes the most inexpensive touches make all the difference.

THOSE COOKIES THOUGH!  My friend Lindsay made these!  They tasted as good as they looked.  She is incredibly talented.  I linked her Instagram account under the picture.  I can’t say enough about what beautiful and tasty things she creates.

I am so incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to watch our beautiful Ella grow.  Wish us luck in year two!

Summer in Victoria

When I packed for a weekend away in Victoria, I wasn’t sure what we would be doing, but I knew this chambray dress would do the trick regardless. I find this piece so versatile. Here, I paired it with a fun pair of gold gladiator sandals for a weekend brunch, but it could be worn with heels, or a cute flat. I like that it is quite fitted, and gives a good shape without needing a belt. The slight hi-lo cut is perfect for summer and easy to wear.

I have been using this Tory Burch bag a lot. It is a beautiful rich neutral and I love the gold details. I finished the outfit with some delicate gold jewellery, a bright pink lip and my favourite sunnies. Oh, and I’m a bit obsessed with this peachy pink nail colour. It is perfect for summer and goes with everything.
