Hi Girls!

Ok I promised a recap of the advice I received from you all after I put out an SOS on my Instagram Stories…so here it is!

For those of you that didn’t catch it, I have worn lash extensions for the last 5 (?) years straight. I honestly can’t remember when I got my first’s been THAT long. Zero breaks. Crazy right? I just feel so much prettier with them on and I loved that I didn’t have to wear eye makeup. In that sense, they made my look really low fuss which was nice. HOWEVER, now that I have my two girls, I just can’t commit a few hours every three weeks for a fill, not to mention the expense attached. With our new house build I have been trying to really look at my spending and I felt this was an area that was honestly unnecessary (Mama would rather have a built in espresso machine than extensions lol). But by far the biggest reason to ditch the extensions was that my natural lashes are in BAD shape. They are really fine and sparse and are little stubs that grow straight out. There have been a number of times when I even lost a section of my natural lashes completely! Not ideal. I have been dreading removing my extensions completely and going through the painful process of rebuilding my natural lashes, but it was time. SO I DID IT! Yay! It actually feels great but I wanted your opinions on which serum would help to strengthen and rebuild my lashes fast and effectively and what mascara I should be using to try mask the sad state I am currently in. Well, it turns out this has happened to A LOT of you! I can’t believe how many people responded to me saying that lash extensions were really hard on their natural lashes or that they began to develop allergic reactions (this happened to me too). So without further adieu, here is a list of the most popular suggestions:

Serums (to repair and grow thicker, longer lashes)

  • Rodan & Fields LashBoost – This was by far the suggestion I heard most, and I have ordered myself a bottle to try! I will keep you posted on the results! At $150USD per bottle, lets all keep our fingers crossed.. One thing to keep in mind is that this isn’t good for anyone with an allergy to tree nuts.
  • Plume – I love this one because it is made with 100% natural ingredients and they have a money back guarantee if you aren’t happy. I know a few people who have had good success with this and it seems to not cause eye irritation/redness at all. $95CAD per 5mL bottle (You can pick this up at Vanity Vault in Calgary or Prim in Lethbridge)
  • EyEnvy – Sold in salons (I have seen it at Frilly Lily in Calgary). $100 CAD per 3.5mL tube. Again, I know girls who really like this one but I have heard that it can be a bit irritating at first.
  • Latisse – I think that we can all agree that for pure effectiveness, this product works the best. Like, it will undoubtedly grow you some beauty lashes – FAST. This one scares me a bit though since it has potential to change the pigment of the Iris darker (rare, but still..) and can also darken the eyelid where the product is applied. Plus, it is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding moms so… not a good choice for me right now. This retails for around $200 per bottle and can be purchased from MediSpas or dermatology/plastic surgery offices.

**Each of these products clearly state that it will be weeks to months of consistent use before a noticeable difference is seen. Stick with it!**

Mascara’s (To mask the fact that my lashes look like they just survived some sort of tragic accident)

  • L’Oreal Voluminous – I can’t even believe how many of you suggested this!! There are different types of this that you can buy, “million lash”, “feline noir” etc. I ended up picking up the 2 pack of the original Voluminous plus primer. Its legit amazing. $10 at most drugstores!
  • Too Faced Better Than Sex – You can pick this up from Sephora for $30. It was the second most popular recommendation.
  • YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils – $38 from Sephora
  • e.l.f. minerals – $5 Drugstore brand
  • Senegence – This is made by the same company that makes LipSense, so it could be good! The Lashsense with Undersense (mascara with volcanic ash builder/conditioner) is $27. I order my products from Katie at Love, Laughter and Lipstick by Katie
  • Seacret – I swear half of Saskatchewan is selling this line right now. I’ve heard amazing things! $36 Here’s a link to shop the products if you are interested!

One suggestion was to try Magnetic Lashes, rather than glued on extensions. Has anyone tried these? I’m worried that with a layer of lash above and a layer below, they might be a little too thick and dramatic for day to day use, but could potentially be an option for a night out! I’m curious…

Ok and lastly, some of my favourite bloggers have been talking a lot about lash lifts and tints. Basically, this amps up your natural lashes and lasts for way longer than extensions (a few months). Depending on the salon, a lift and tint runs around $100. I think I will give this a go after I work on strengthening and lengthening my current lashes.

A huge thank you to all that replied and helped me decide where to start with this. You guys are the best!! I will keep you posted on my progress and results.

Have a great week!

XO Lesley

|Black Dress| Floral Romper | Peach Romper|

Happy Friday Everyone!

I love summer. Days spent outside at the park or the zoo, evenings enjoying dinner in our backyard and dates on the patio. Sometimes I think we should live in California or somewhere warm year round  (except for Ella’s potential mosquito allergy that we are dealing with.. it’s the one reason I can’t wait for the weather to freeze out the little bains of my existence). I also love summer fashion because it’s so easy to just pop on a romper and a pair of sandals and go. No jacket, no snow to contend with. It’s just so easy. Plus, I don’t have to dress my kids in 3000 layers and play the too hot, too cold game.

These three fun pieces are all so versatile and comfortable, and can truly be taken from day to night by switching up shoes and accessories. You can find all these outfits at the online shopping site TOBI ( You guys need to check out this shop. They have an absolute ton of selection from the cutest rompers and dresses, to the perfect little top for any occasion, all at really good prices. Like, this adorable black dress is on sale for $40 right now, good. I always find that it’s the subtle details that make a piece really cute, like the sweet scallop trim on this black dress and great pockets on this little peach romper. There are so many fun and different items available with some personality!

TOBI offers FREE shipping on all orders to Canada, with taxes and duties paid and no minimum spend (cue angels singing). I’m honestly so done with adding an extra 30% to my orders once shipping, taxes, exchange etc are all figured in on some other sites, so this is a huge selling point to me. You can download the TOBI app free from the App Store, which makes it easy to browse, place and track your order. Just make sure you update your country for correct pricing and shipping info. I will say not to expect luxurious fabrics, but for the price point, I think it’s fair, and similar to what competitive brands at this price point have to offer.

I have linked the three pieces I am wearing (find the links at the bottom of the photos), but TOBI adds new items every day, so you should really head to the site to take a peek! I want more things already!

Oh and one last thing – it’s totally worth it to sign up for the email list, you get 50% off your first order!! Happy shopping ladies!

Have an awesome weekend everyone, we are finally having a quieter weekend at home and I plan to make a big batch of homemade salsa to seal in jars. Tell me what you are up to! I would love to hear!

Hey Girls,

This is a very overdue post, as Sophia is already almost three months old!! Hoooow did that happen so quickly?! Anyway, I wanted to share her birth story with you guys, so here it goes! Sorry, it’s a bit long, but I want to remember every detail 🙂

I had Elle at 37 weeks so I always just figured this babe would come early like her sister. I finished work and as week 38 passed, I was starting to get bored and anxious. I worried that I may have to be induced and I could see my first ever tiny little stretch mark starting at my belly button. If we are being honest, I think that was the real panic at the disco, this child MUST evacuate, moment :). At my doctors appointment that week I measured 2cm dilated but she was quick to inform me that I could be 2cm for weeks. She did a membrane sweep, but mentioned it may not do much the first time. I started walking a lot, drinking raspberry tea, you name it. Still no action. I relegated myself to the fact that babies come when they are ready and tried to relax..and not check the status of that stretch mark 20 times a day..

On March 27, I woke up after a great sleep, feeling really rested. As Brad left to work, I joked that I would call him if I had a baby, he laughed and gave me a thumbs up. Since there were absolutely no signs of labour, neither of us thought it was coming any time soon. Around noon I started to feel a bit of tightening that I thought were some light Braxton Hicks and kept going about my day. Over the next hour, things picked up a bit and started to be more predictable at 10 minutes apart. I was very comfortable and thought baby may arrive in the next few days. I called my parents and told them it may be a false alarm and that I wasn’t sure it was even real labour but to maybe think about how it would work to come up from Lethbridge to watch Ella over the next day or so. I told Brad to not schedule any meetings for the next day.  No rush, no panic. By 2:30, things were getting a bit more intense and frequency had picked up to 6 minutes apart. I called my aunt and put her on standby for Ella duty just in case baby arrived that evening. I called Brad but told him that I was running a bath and was pretty sure that contractions would stop once I got off my feet and relaxed. He asked if he should come home and I said no. I made some calls and texted a few girlfriends, and was feeling good but things weren’t slowing down. I mentioned how close my contractions were to my friend who is a nurse and she told me I needed to call Brad home and go to the hospital. Denial ended. haha. I called Brad and told him we were having a baby that day for sure and to come home fairly soon, though I still didn’t really think there was a huge rush. He finished up a few things at the office and by the time he came home, my contractions were 3-4 minutes apart. He took one look at me, rolled up the sleeves to his dress shirt and asked me what he had to do!  I laughed, told him he wasn’t delivering the baby and to roll his sleeves back down lol. I got dressed, we grabbed our bags and headed out around 4pm. Traffic wasn’t great so it took a while to arrive at the Hospital. Brad offered to drop me off at the front doors but I opted to just walk with him from the parking lot. I didn’t really feel like waiting solo at the entrance for him to park.  I had a few contractions on the short walk, and had to keep stopping to breathe. My always chivalrous husband kept looking over his shoulder, embarrassed that he was “that guy” who made his wife walk as people stared haha. We made it upstairs to Labour and Delivery and I was still feeling quite good. We checked into triage and I wasn’t entirely sure that they wouldn’t send me home. A very exuberant medical student came in to greet me. He announced that he had some questions for me to get stared. All of a sudden the contractions started to come hard and fast. He told me he had “all the time in the world and didn’t mind waiting” (which at that point I found slightly annoying)  but the time between contractions was so short that I refused to talk and he started to get nervous and told me he was going to get his boss which made Brad and I chuckle. Poor guy. The OB resident came in, checked me at 8cm and I was whisked away to a delivery suite. You guys, I was STILL convinced that we had a while to go and told everyone not to panic. I did also tell them to page anesthesia. STAT. Like, I wanted that epidural yesterday! After that, I basically asked for anesthesia updates every 30 seconds until he came. Halfway through getting the epidural, I announced that I needed to push. 15 minutes later, at 5:54pm, the most beautiful baby girl, with a head full of dark brown hair and olive skin arrived. She had the cord wrapped around her neck but it wasn’t long before I heard her sweet cry. I think that might be the best sound in the world after labour.

They gave the baby to me right away and we spent the next hour just snuggling, skin to skin. We requested delayed umbilical cord clamping after which Brad cut the cord. I nursed and the nurse didn’t take her to weigh or measure her until much later. I absolutely loved it. I think those few hours after the birth of a baby are so incredibly, incredibly special. You get handed your very own living, breathing miracle. Our sweet Sophia Rose, 7 lbs, 4 oz, 19.5″ of pure joy and true love.

We were lucky enough to get a private room after I had Ella, and we requested one and got it this time around as well (such good luck). That evening my parents brought Ella up to visit and I don’t have words for how special the moment was when she met her sister for the first time. She came marching in with her “Sister” bracelet from the Hospital, in Paw Patrol pyjamas, wearing a toy stethoscope and carrying a puppy purse full of goodies. She was so excited that they had stopped to get me a bouquet of flowers and she had chosen a special balloon for the arrangement. My heart burst 100 times over with pure gratitude for this wonderful little family that Brad and I have been given. She gave Sophia a gentle kiss, climbed into bed next to me, ate all my post delivery snacks off my bedside table and left my sheets full of crumbs. I loved every minute. The next day, Brad brought Sophia and I home and we were greeted by one VERY excited and proud big sister. It was pretty adorable and a moment I will never forget.

I feel so lucky to have had such a fast, easy labour and a healthy baby girl. We are also so grateful to all of our parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who have showered our family with love, support and generosity as we raise our little family. It really DOES take a village, and we have the most amazing tribe surrounding us.

Thank you to Ladidalane Photography for these beautiful photos we had done a few weeks after Sophia was born 🙂

I hope you all have an amazing long weekend and a Happy Canada Day!

ps – my dress is from Anthropologie and on MEGA sale right now and the girls are both wearing dresses from Zara 🙂

Hi Girls!

Now that Sophia has arrived and we are settled into a schedule, I am happy to be back at the blog! Life has certainly gotten busier with another baby but I am really excited to use this time away from my career to give this other passion of mine a little extra love!

One of the questions I got a lot while I was pregnant was where to find cute maternity wear. After having gone through it twice now, I would definitely recommend investing in a handful of good quality pieces that you love and feel great in. I lived in my favourite pair of maternity jeans (and still do!) for most of my pregnancy. Totally worth the price tag. I also found a few dressier items like a one piece jumpsuit and some tailored pants for work, were so nice to have in my closet for the office or a date night. You girls that are pregnant during the summer months are lucky and can pop on a cute dress!

In honour of us Mama’s and Moms to be, Posh Mommy here in Calgary is having a HUGE sale this weekend. You guys, the ENTIRE store is 25% off but they are giving my readers an extra 5%, so 30% off when you mention the code MOMDAY. The sale also applies to everything online (use the MOMDAY code at checkout), and shipping is FREE in Canada when you spend $75 or more. This is a really, really good sale. For those of you that have never been, Posh Mommy carries maternity wear from some of my favourite brands – Isabella Oliver, Ripe, Seraphine, Paige and Citizens of Humanity and they have THE cutest diaper bags by Matt & Nat and So Young (that Matt & Nat backpack diaper bag is amazing). They also carry a ton of nursing bras and tanks and have one of the biggest selections in western Canada, so for you girls struggling to find your size, you need to check this out! I’m finding that with a toddler running around wreaking havoc or escaping in public while I nurse, a nursing tank is super efficient..ahhh the days of sipping tea and online shopping with my feet up while nursing. Those days are gone lol.

Posh Mommy is located at 2120 Kensington Rd NW #102, Calgary, AB and you can also check them out online at Remember, this sale is only this weekend, so head down Today from 10am-5pm, Saturday 10am-5pm or Sunday 12-4pm and stock up!! If you follow me on Instagram (@mamabydesign) I will be popping into the store Saturday morning, so check out my Stories!

Stay tuned for Sophia’s birth story and our newborn photos coming to the blog next week. I can’t wait to share it with you. Lastly, Happy Mother’s Day mama’s! Even though this is the best job in the world, its not easy being a Mom and I hope your families spoil you!

Dress: Sew Trendy Accessories  Flower Crowns: Amborella Floral Studio

Hi Guys!!

So, according to my calendar and my obstetrician, I am 38 weeks pregnant and babe could arrive any time! For some reason, this time around it all feels a bit surreal. Maybe I’m just not in a huge hurry to jump back into labour (cringe) or enter into months and months of sleepless nights or maybe I am absorbing the transition from one child to TWO (we are going to be a family of 4 people.. wasn’t I a single, career girl like 5 minutes ago?!). Don’t get me wrong, I am over the moon excited and feel unbelievably blessed, I just get a bit anxious about everything going ok..and lack of sleep..did I mention that one? haha. I want to meet this new little person so badly, and I am especially dying to know if it is a boy or a girl!

Here is a little Q & A about this pregnancy since my last update!

Cravings: None, although I’m really using this as an excuse to allow my sweet tooth to run a bit wild. Did you know that a “Royal” blizzard, the one with all the best toppings like brownie and carmel and liquid marshmallow comes with a gold spoon?! It’s like being a platinum AMEX card holder..kind of.

Sleeping: Like a rock (big shout out to my toddler on this one)

Nesting: WAY more than I did with Ella. I want closets cleaned out, freezers filled, and taxes done before babe arrives! This is especially ironic since I used to file my taxes in like November 😳

Movement: I kid you not, this baby is a Ninja Warrior. I spent so much time worrying about Ella when she was in my belly because she hardly moved (or at least I couldn’t feel it with an anterior placenta). This babe? Running Man, 24/7. I actually really love it, although now that he or she has gotten bigger, my ribs may never recover.

Maternity Clothes: I bought a handful of really great maternity pieces and everything else has been regular clothes sized up or versatile pieces that I already had in my closet, repurposed. My absolute go to’s: Leather (pleather) maternity leggings and a winter coat from Seraphine Maternity, a great pair of Citizens of Humanity maternity jeans (which will be perfect post partum), Isabella Oliver Black one piece jumpsuit and a grey knit maternity dress by HATCH. That’s it. I was way happier spending a little more on fewer pieces that made me feel great this time around.

Skin and Hair: I am really lucky that pregnancy clears my skin right up and I never have to deal with the usual blemishes that I battle when not pregnant. The downside? I have noticed a bit more pigment (melasma) this time. I hope that it fades after I deliver! I have made some major changes to my skincare regime, which I will share with you soon, so maybe this good skin trend will continue! My hair is growing insanely fast, and my roots are getting DARK! Lastly, and I really hope that I am not jinxing myself by even typing this, but…so far, zero stretch marks. I was really lucky that I didn’t get any with Ella, but she was already here by this point last pregnancy, so I am a bit afraid for the next few weeks!

Energy: I have to say, I have been feeling really, really good. I do indulge in the occasional afternoon nap with Ella and its been so nice to sleep in now that Im officially on maternity leave, so overall, I can’t complain! I also don’t have any back pain, which I struggled with with Ella. I credit regular visits to the chiropractor and osteopath. I was a big non believer before, but my mind has been changed!

Ella: She is honestly the most gentle and sweet toddler and is SO excited to be a big sister. I think that she is going to adjust well and will be the best helper to me. She is officially potty trained and sleeping in her big girl bed and new room, so we are ready!

To celebrate Babe’s arrival nearing, we did a beautiful outdoor maternity session near Banff a few weeks ago with the incredibly talented Genevieve from Genevieve Renee Photographie, the pics are above! I wore a dress from Sew Trendy Accessories and I had flower crowns for Ella and I made by Amborella Floral Studio. Also, a big shout out to Megan from Vanity Vault for my beautiful makeup! I really debated if I needed or wanted maternity photos, but I am so glad I did it.  They are a snapshot into such a special and fleeting time in our lives.  I absolutely love them.

Stay tuned to see what I am packing in my Hospital bag!!

Happy Saturday Everyone!

I have BIG news!! After a reallllly long time searching for the perfect property, Brad and I have purchased a lot in Calgary and will be building our new home this year! We finally found a spot that feels perfect for raising our growing family and I am estactic for this project to begin! So far, my blog has been mostly about fashion and motherhood, two things I really enjoy, but home design is truly my passion and I can’t wait to share this journey with you!

Building can be really overwhelming so we are going to start by gathering some ideas and meeting vendors at the Calgary Home and Garden Show March 2-5 and I am so excited to be doing an awesome GIVEAWAY with the Home Show and HGTV designer Tiffany Pratt that you guys need to check out! Tiffany will be on stage presenting “The Rainbow Connection: Fearlessly Bringing Color Into Your Home & Life” Friday March 3 at 3pm and Saturday March 4 at 1pm. If you know me, you know that I need a little “nudge” to add color into my designs haha. I do love me some cream and grey, so I will be there checking this out for sure! We thought it would be fun to interview Tiffany and share with you some great tips for building, renovating or redecorating your home!

Tell us a little about yourself, how did you get into this business, where are you based and where are you originally from?

TP: Straight out of the womb I have been a creative. For as long as I can remember, creating, making and designing has been my language. I have always followed my curiosity and my love for beauty, textures, colours and shapes. I feel very grateful to be a designer, author and overall maker! Being called HGTV’s most vibrant interior designer is also pretty swell! I just adore what I do and being able to make people happy and create beauty is a true honour for me.

I was born in America and raised in Canada. I’m happy to now call Toronto home and it’s thrilling to be surrounded by multiculturalism and creative beings!

Will this be your first time appearing at a home show in Calgary? What are you looking forward to in this appearance?

TP: This will be my first time appearing at the Home Show in Calgary! YAY! But I’ve been to Calgary before and remember so many of the sweet and kind people in the city. I’m looking forward to meeting lots of new kind souls!

What will you be discussing at this show?

TP: I’ll be sharing a very personal story about my true ‘Rainbow Connection’. And give audiences the real story of my connection to colours, rainbows and why I feel injecting colour into your life is so healing and transformative. I will be sharing how to fearlessly bring a bright range of colours into your life and home and how easy and accessible this colourful way of life can be! Get ready for a little spectrum of inspiration!

What influences your style? How would you describe your style?

TP: I would describe my style as a curated collage, filled with small and large choices that both reflect the soul of the person or place that I am creating for. I see myself as a creative medium bringing through the dreams and visual ideals of those that I work with.

How did you get into TV, and what is your favourite aspect of doing a TV show?

TP: I was running an art studio when a TV crew asked to use my space for a live broadcast. After that, producers on CBC’s Steven and Chris approached to ask if I would be a regular guest on their show. Things snowballed after that and the rest is history! My favourite part about working on a show is bringing light and joyful laughter to the set. I really love having fun and making TV that is lighthearted and easy to watch! I have been doing TV now for about 8 years and I truly love it.

Tell us about Home To Win? What is your participation in this ensemble show?

TP: Home to Win is a show where a collection of HGTV Canada network stars come together and pool their skills to build a dream home for one lucky Canadian to win. I am on of the designers on the show and it is truly a honour and a pleasure to be on this cast!

What’s your first step in designing a home?

TP: The first step I take when designing a space is learning how my clients plan to live and function within the four walls. Knowing what they have and want to include is also hugely helpful. Good design comes from great function and flow. If you live an organized life where everything has a place, beauty can be infused into the nooks and crannies so you are surrounded by things that make you feel at home.

What should people always remember in decorating their home?

TP: Have fun! Forget the rules and what your friends may have done in their home! Your space is your own and should be a reflection of who you are and how you want to live! Follow what you love and enjoy the process! It is not a race!

With the economy as it is in Calgary, what’s your top advise for people who want to renovate or redecorate their home and remain on budget?

TP: Paint is the most transformational and inexpensive way to refresh and redecorate your home. Once you have a new coat of paint on walls, or objects, you can get to the business of frosting. I do not believe you have to overhaul your whole life to make things feel new! Move things around! Paint it up! A newly renovated space is just a few brush strokes away!

I want to thank Tiffany for this interview, and for participating in the giveaway! Here are the deets!

This awesome package will run February 25 – March 1 and includes:

– A signed copy of Tiffany Pratt’s NEW book “This Can Be Beautiful”

– A notebook and pencil from her collection

– TWO FREE TICKETS to the Calgary Home and Garden Show happening March 2-5, 2017 at the BMO Centre & Corral at Stampede Park

– A Golden Acre herb garden kit

There are two ways to enter! Either subscribe to my Blog (you will get an email notification each time I post so you can stay tuned in!)

Head to my Instagram (@mamabydesign), follow me and tag a friend under any of the images for this giveaway! Each tag will count as an entry!

I will enter all entrants into a random draw and will announce on March 1, in time for the show!!

BABY #2!!

My Dress: Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply, Ella’s Dress and boots: Zara

Hi All,

Since I am already over halfway there, I thought I would do a pregnancy update on baby Wanchulak #2!

Brad and I couldn’t be more excited and we are so grateful to all of you for your kind words, sweet messages and overwhelming support! I truly think Ella will be the best big sister and she already loves to kiss my belly and give baby “hugs” (melt my heart). I wanted to share the incredible photos that Genevieve from Genevieve Renee Photographie took for us and I thought it might be fun to do a little Q & A about my pregnancy so far!

My Due Date: March 31 (20 weeks along right now!)

Symptoms: I was pretty nauseous during the first trimester, although if I made sure I ate often and was well rested (a bit tougher with a toddler this time around 🙈) it was manageable. I was also SO tired during weeks 7-12. Like fall asleep standing up, at work, in the middle of the day, insane narcoleptic tired. Let’s say I’m glad that stage is over and I’m so thankful for a patient and understanding husband who was on toddler, dinner, and basically everything duty as soon as he arrived home from work every day for two months.  He is seriously the best. Now that the magical second trimester is here, I feel great! My energy is back, quesiesness is gone and I feel like the usual “me”, plus a few lbs and a growing bump 😉

Bump: growing way faster this time around! Could it be my complete lack of attention to rebuilding abs between pregnancies? Lol. Whoops. Also, my boobs apparently remember too because.. Wow 😬 I’m not buying many maternity clothes, I find it’s pretty easy (and a lot more affordable) to just size up where needed. EXCEPT.. I LOVE a great pair of maternity jeans. I live in them. They are more my style than leggings but just as comfortable. Completely worth the splurge.

Gender: we aren’t going to find out!! We were surprised with Ella, and it was so much fun, we decided to do it again! I find it way easier this time around since I bought all neutral baby gear for my first pregnancy. And let’s be honest…I’m a cream and gray kind of gal anyway. We are just hoping for a safe and healthy pregnancy and babe.

Cravings: none really! I just realllly like food right now haha! I have a bit of an aversion to red meat and salmon and I have cut out caffeine, so some days I miss that (again, cue mom of toddler). No real complaints in the food department. The only thing I really miss is a good glass of red wine here and there.

Doctor or Midwife: we are going to go the Obstetrician route, as I had some blood pressure issues at the end of my pregnancy with Ella and a tough delivery. I am on the hunt for a great Doula though, so send me your recommendations!

Again, thank you all for sharing in our excitement and for the wonderful response to our news! We are so lucky to be able to share this with all of you and I can’t wait to blog about this journey! I would love to answer any questions you have, so ask away!!

XO Lesley

Hi Ladies!

By this time, you have definitely seen me post about my collaboration with Blu’s Womenwear and the great pieces I snagged at the Southcenter location!

Here’s the thing. To be perfectly honest, I had never even heard of Blus’s until I was invited to join a focus group at their Banker’s Hall location. Literally, I had to Google Maps where I was going – no joke. Since then, I have learned so much about their brand, what they carry in store and the company vison.

Blu’s is locally owned and exclusive to Edmonton and Calgary. They carry high end women’s wear from many different designers and really bring a curated, unique flavour to the next step in women’s fashion.

To my surprise, many of my favourite brands already lived at Blu’s. They carry Smythe jackets (you know the fabulous Tommy Smythe, side kick to Sarah Richardson, my all time favourite designer? Ya, his sister), Vince, Micheal Kors, Hugo Boss, S.A.M., Tahari, Eileen Fisher and many, many more! There are many of the same types of things you would find at the big box high end stores, but this is small, locally owned and and the staff is so friendly and helpful (more on that below)!

I have always been a big believer in mixing my closet with trendy, more affordable pieces and good quality, well tailored, timeless investment items. Blu’s is where you will find the latter. The price point is high, but very much worth it for those special pieces. For example, I picked out the warmest, most beautiful winter jacket by S.A.M., that I am certain will last me season to season, and be just as practical for a zoo day with Ella as a nice dinner out with Brad. It is a really subtle shade of olive/army green and the fur around the collar is both stylish and warm! The construction is equally impressive with heavy duty zippers and and great insulation, without being too bulky. It’s safe to say I am a huge fan! Blu’s has a really good selection of all different types of beautiful winter coats and again, I truthfully would have never thought to check there! Without going into detail about every item that I bought, I will say this: they are beautiful, unique pieces that I really do love and fit me like a glove!

Lastly, I have to give a shout out to Stephanie, both for the opportunity to get to know Blu’s better and also for being so good at what she does! Before I arrived in store, she had pulled some items that she thought I may like. A lot of the items I pulled myself were exactly the same! Pretty impressive. She is a lovely person with amazing taste and a great representation of the Blu’s team. Unlike some high end retail, I didn’t feel judged or questioned for being in the store and was greeted with smiling helpful faces. It was really refreshing and totally welcoming.

So, if you have never heard of Blu’s, or you haven’t been in for a while, give it another look! Take a few minutes and really check out what the store has to offer. If you are like me, you will be really, really impressed.

Hey Guys!

Eeeek! I’m SO excited to share this “Mommy and Me” post with you! I’m just going to start by saying it is SO fun to have a girl! I am loving this stage where she is my little sidekick and always wants to be like her mama. These precious moments where she adores tea parties and picnics in the park wont last forever, so I am going to make time and have as many as we can, as long as she will let me! As soon as I received these matching bracelets from Felicia at Devin Gem (local to Calgary!) I knew they were perfect for Ella and I and I couldn’t wait to get them on and twin with my little mini! Ella, the textbook girly-girl was possibly more excited haha. She is obsessed with dressing up in my clothes and shoes and loves to pretend she is wearing makeup 😂, so when she got a piece of jewelry of her own, she was quite pleased and wouldn’t take it off!  The bracelets are made of 12-24 Kt gold plated wire and clasp with glass beads and Swarovski crystals. Each gem on the bracelet is meaningful and represents things like peace, courage, confidence etc. Such a cool idea! I chose the “Baby S” because I am obsessed with pearls (they are the ultimate neutral and match everything!) and they are really so pretty.  Head over to the Devin Gem website or her Insta @devin.gem to check out all the cute choices!

Does anyone know how to freeze time so I can keep E little forever? Don’t get me wrong, there are certainly challenges to having a two year old, but I actually find her sass and determination quite adorable and when she is sweet, there is nothing in the world that melts my heart faster. These little moments make the tough days of mamahood all worth it.

We are headed for vacation in a couple days and I can’t WAIT! Check my Instagram @mamabydesign and snapchat (username lesleywanch) for updates from our trip!

Have a great week!

ps – I finally have Pinterst (Search Mama By Design) I just have to figure out what I’m doing 🙈. So let’s Pin! (Is that what you say? Lol)
